Vectrix engaged ROBRADY to generate a series of integrated storage concepts for its consumer and commercial lines of innovative, eco-friendly electric scooters.
The first design, geared to the commercial market, consists of a rear-mounted module that increases storage space by 150% while maintaining the sleek lines of the Vectrix brand and enhancing the riding experience.
The module’s bi-fold door means segmentation of the storage space is an option, not a necessity. The door folds over to open up to the trunk, or folds in two and detaches to make use of the full 100 liters of space. (When detached, the bi-fold door stores in the bottom of the trunk.)
The multifaceted solution also addresses important ergonomic issues. The slanting module lid possesses a high trim line to ensure contents are not compromised when the unit is opened and closed. Like the existing trunk space, the new module is watertight. In fact, it keeps contents safer than ever because ROBRADY designers utilized a cable to tie the module mechanics into the vehicle ignition: With the scooter key in the ignition, the push-and- twist motion that used to pop the passenger seat now pops open the new lid to the new-and-improved trunk. Once the key is taken out of the ignition, all electronics—including those that pop the lid—are locked down. The final touch adds some cushion to the ride, literally. Two new back support cushions—one on the module’s lid and one on its base—make for the smoothest ride yet.
