Re-Imagining the Design of Imaging Technology
Omega Medical’s Soteria.AI is an image-guided system that significantly reduces patient radiation exposure. To realize the full promise of their advanced technology, the company looked to ROBRADY to collaboratively create the system’s branded enclosure – respectful of tight costing parameters.
Material Improvements
ROBRADY optimized the user experience of the Soteria.AI through progressive industrial design that reflected and complemented the innovative technology within. Using locally sourced cast urethane tooling and parts, the custom panel costs achieved financial targets while ensuring high-quality control and a brand aesthetic that communicated the state-of-the-art technology within a competitive market.
A Sleeker System
The redesign also focused on streamlining the previously monolithic system. ROBRADY coordinated Soteria’s various articulation points, continuing the lines between the system’s various components. As a result, a cohesive whole emerged from what had resembled a collection of white boxes. The new configuration increased patient access, required fewer UI display screens, and offered angulations previously found only on ceiling-based systems. The leaner design meant a smaller overall footprint and an installation time cut from months to just days. Complemented by an interplay of black and white in a fresh color scheme, the once monolithic imaging system had a more lightweight and intentionally progressive aesthetic.
Just What the Doctor Ordered
Representing a collaboration between industrial design and mechanical engineering, the sophisticated design solution reflected the system’s advanced capabilities while being manufacturable within a demanding production budget.
